A NOTE FROM PASTOR EDNA
Dear Church of the Cross Family and Friends, a note from Pastor Edna:
We're in the midst of unsettling, unpredictable times as we face unprecedented challenges in dealing with the question and issue of discernment within the United Methodist Church. But through all of this, we must continue to be the church and to love and care for one another and our community.
I invite you to continue to be in prayer for our church, more than anything we know that Jesus came to free us from the bonds of sin and death. He came to lead us into the intimacy of His divine life. He came to give us His own life. He came to lift us up into a loving community with the Father. This is who we are in Jesus Christ.
What’s Coming to Church of the Cross:
The First Sunday of Advent is on November 27, 2022. We will gather in anticipation of the coming of our Savior. We will be lighting the Advent wreath and preparing ourselves for Christmas, each week following. Our focus will be Justice, Kindness, Peace, Wisdom and Good News.
Christmas Caroling Sunday, December 11th at 4:00pm until ? Hot chocolate following.
Nativity Escape Room activity. Watch for dates and time.
Christmas Eve, December 24 we will gather to sing carols and retell the Christmas story. We’ll continue the sacred tradition of passing the candlelight in the darkness and we’ll remember the birth of Jesus, who brings us hope when things feel hopeless.
If you have young children or know of friends or family invite them to this special service and time 4:30 pm. The youth are planning a live nativity at 3:30pm on the lawn of the church along the driveway. They will be there an hour before the 4:30 Christmas service. Drive by and see them!
Christmas Day our worship will be at 11:00 AM with carols and scripture of What Gifts Did We Receive? Please note the different time for our worship, enjoy your family and then join us for our special service.
Have a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year 2023!
