Our Ministries

The Church of the Cross community is love in action. Find a place to serve and be served within our variety of ministries designed to meet the needs of multiple generations and a variety of interests.

Kids

Vacation Bible School–The best part of the summer! A fun and rewarding experience for children, VBS teachers, and assistants.

Sunday School–On Sunday mornings, children are released just before the sermon to age-specific classes that teach them about living the Christian life.

Nursery–Staffed in observance of our Church of the Cross "Safe Site" policy, the nursery provides loving care for children during Sunday Worship, infants through age 3.

Youth

Friends of Faith–An awesome youth group for grades 3 through 6! Meets Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:00 and participates in other special events throughout the year.

Agape Youth–Our 7th through 12th graders get real and have a blast at youth group. Meets Wednesday nights from 7:30 to 8:30 and participates in other special events throughout the year.

Adults

Men's Breakfast–Fun and fellowship on the 1st Sunday of every month at 8:00am.

Small Groups–Learn about the Bible and build community during our Wednesday evening small group gatherings held at numerous times throughout the fall, winter, and spring. Sessions usually start at 7pm.

Adult Sunday School–Each Sunday immediately following our service we offer two Adult Sunday School classes beginning at 10:30 am. 

Outreach

Lexington Child Development CenterCOTC proudly partners with the LCDC, an award-winning preschool and daycare.

Prayer Team–Pray for our church, community, and world. Wednesdays at 5:45-7:00pm.

Prayer Shawl Ministry– The Knitting Angels bless others with their handicraft skills the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month from 1:00-2:30pm.

Knotty Ladies– This group of quilters meet on Tuesdays from 9-11 am.   The Knotty Ladies donate quilts they have knotted to those in need.

The Care Team–Help deliver meals and prayers to meet the tangible needs of people in the midst of difficult times.

Food Pantry–Help stock and staff our food pantry Thursdays from 6:15-7:00pm.

 

Alcoholics Anonymous-
AA- Open Meeting – Fridays at 7:00pm (Fellowship Hall)  
AA- 12 Step Meeting – Monday at 7:30pm (Parlor – Education wing)

Heart of Ohio EmmausA spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. Meets the 1st Thursday of every month at 6:00pm.

 

 

 

 

Music

Praise Worship Team–Our church is blessed with a music director who is not only a talented choir director but is also an accomplished praise song keyboardist and we are further blessed in that our pastor is also a talented praise song drummer (How Cool is that ?). Interested vocalists and musicians should reach out to the music director for information about the worship team.

Chancel Choir–Under the Direction of Geoff Fischer, the choir practices from 7:00-8:00pm on Thursday nights from September through May.

Bell Choir–Under the direction of Marita Boughton, the bell choir practices from 6:45-7:45pm on Monday nights from September through May.

Volunteers

We love our volunteers! Check this page periodically for various opportunities to serve God. Contact Jodi Ott in the church office at 419-884-2150 for more information.

Nursery–Volunteers are always needed to care for our littlest members Sunday mornings during worship. 

Gardening group–Help take care of the flower beds which beautify our church grounds during the spring, summer and fall, Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm.
